Henry's notes for today:
Day 14: I set the alarm 45 min too early, causing everyone to wake up too early. We set off on our ride in the rain, which got steadily worse during the day, and was fairly heavy at times. The rain finally stopped about 3 pm, to be replaced by noticeable wind. Too cold and wet to think about ice cream today! Had a very nice lunch in Grand Rapids, where we stopped in a bike shop to replace a tail light Linda lost yesterday. The bike shop had foster kittens, which were irresitably cute. Jeff has a picture of one on his Relive app. Grand Rapids seems like a very nice and liveable city. Our destination for the night was Muskegon on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, but overshot our hotel and had to loop back. As we were entering the hotel's driveway, "some dude" in a passing car shot Jeff with a paintball. Very random and bizarre. It hit him just above a knee, and splattered orange paint on his sleeve and handlebars. He will have a bruise, but fortunately was not hurt otherwise. We are all stunned that someone would do that, as if we need one more road hazard to worry about! The day ended more happily with a very hearty dinner at a bistro that was too elegant for the likes of us. That restaurant hasn't seen anyone in bike shorts forever, I'm sure.

They seated us in the back room alone. Not sure why.
