Henry's Notes for today

Day 36: Our host Frank greeted us with a dozen freshly baked donuts from the local IGA grocery store, which has their own in-house from-scratch bakery. Yum. We cleaned our bikes at the park across the street, lubed the drive mechanism, and made minor adjustments. Linda's chain and tires are still good after almost 3,000 miles of riding (including the training before the trip). We obtained lunch supplies at the IGA, and brought our haul back to share with Frank. We then parted ways to explore the town on bike. It's not very big, and we ended up running into each other at the local railroad museum. The railroad (now BNSF) was critically important in Havre's development. We also visited the local library, where Frank had gone to show the kids' librarian how to play Go, a Chinese abstract strategy game invented over 2,500 years ago. Frank learned to play it when he was stationed in Okinawa for the Navy. Frank and the librarian think that it would be a worthy educational presentation at one of the library's kids' programs.
Frank's son Eric came over for dinner, again prepared expertly by Frank. Eric is the IT manager at the IGA. There is no denying the father-son resemblance between the two.
Upon Frank's recommendation for a local Chinese restaurant, Henry and Frank went out to pick up some hot and sour soup to share with everyone. The original restaurant Frank recommended had already closed for the evening, but we found a second restaurant that was still open and completed the mission. A tasty but unusual after dinner snack.
